I am in mouring, as I am sure many of you will be. once you realize the weekly.agenda will not be out until September….. What are we to do until then?? Keep calm and Carry on! Wouldn’t it be grand if buttoned up offered us all a 25% discount in September, since we can’t take advantage of it now?!! Just a suggestion from a heartbroken mom who, only this year, finally knew what the heck was going on EVERYDAY!! Thank you buttoned up for this year. I may be back in September if the replacement I find, isn’t as good.

  • Cathy Lilley

I have been checking this website for two months re the weekly agenda. After being told that the 2011 version would be available in December I am VERY disappointed to learn today that it won’t be out until SEPTEMBER. Are you kidding????? I and several of my colleagues have been waiting (patiently)to place an order, waiting to enter appointments etc for 2011 and now find out you are NOT going to have this product available “In December”. I really like your products and was considering trying some additional ones but customer service is as important to me as the products. So long Buttoned Up.

  • Bre

I love this planner and I have tried a lot of planners….but this one is perfect. It is the perfect size for purse or diaper bag, it stays closed and it holds all the information I need in a week and month. The only suggestions I have is a pen holder and a next year outlook page to record upcoming year events. I am disappointed to find out that the 2011 planner won’t be available until September 2011. I went to a Franklin Covey store to find this planner again and couldn’t find it so I then came to your website. I have been waiting patiently to reorder this planner because I couldn’t find anything else that works for me. I don’t usually post comments, but I love this planner and it has really helped me to become “Buttoned Up”. I really want to continue to use your product but if I have to wait until September this will not work as the year will be 3/4′s of the way over and I will be forced to use another product. If I can’t find another product I might be back.

  • Margaret Park

Wow…Hugely disapointed at being told it would be out in December. You just lost a customer.

  • Jennifer

Along with everyone else I am incredibly upset about the weekly agenda not being available in December as previously stated! I have been checking the website daily for this item. What a disappointment!

  • Kimberly

After waiting for weeks and now disappointment.

  • Marianne

Why bother doing a calendar in September when the year will be almost over?! Too little too late. How Unfortunate that I will have to replace the agenda I have come to love with something else. Bad planning from Buttoned Up.

  • ann

I can add my disappointment to the prior comments. I have been waiting and waiting for you weekly agenda to cmoe out. What good is a yearly planner to me in September? Havve checked other planners and they aren’t what I want. I want yours!!!!! Am tempted to buy last years and change the dates, but I am disorganized enough already i don’t need to add to the disorder. Any way you can hear our cries and speed up the printing of this fabulous planner? My husband has been trying to get me to use a planner for years (a Franklin die hard) and I finally find on ethat works for me and now it’s not available…what am I to do??????

  • Barbara

I JUST CAN’T BELIEVE THIS. I used to teach a life planning course for a well known product. It was great when I was working; but now that I’m very ill; I just can’t physically carry around that bulky planner. I FINALLY found a SMALL and incredibly comprehensive calendar that was perfect to take to endless doctor appointments. I called your previous source … it’s gone. I’m refusing to spend a big chunk of money on an electronic planner. It’s exhausting to spend time on a computer … and my fingers fit on the keys. Maybe I’ll find you again … they have replaced you with a calendar that is not nearly useful enough. But I have to get started booking 2011 appointments NOW. SO SAD. Barb

  • Dianne Lott

Wish you hadn’t given everyone false hope about the 2011 planner. Why bother having it start in September 2011? An undated planner would have been preferable to nothing.
Can’t believe we were lead on this way!
You have some great products — this was THE best planner I had ever found — and I’ve been buying planners from Covey/Franklin Covey for 15 years.
Guess I will make due for another year.
Wonder what the story will be in September….

  • Dianne Lott

One final comment — how can a site that is all about getting organized not offer a planner????
Came back to the site today hoping that maybe there was some sort of change…no such luck…
PLEASE GIVE THOUGHT TO OFFERING AN UNDATED PLANNER IN THE MEANTIME!!!

I too being a time management veteran for over 30 yrs. am dissappointed that your product is not available, but I am not devastated. I was going to put a link to your site from my facebook because I have recommended it to so many. I wish you the best, and will probably return to my Palm pilot and style a small journal after the format of your product for this year. I will check back next year, as you have brought sanity to event management for me this year, which was my second year in a new business, and for that I am thankful.

    Sincerely,
    Ann Jackson
    Acworth, GA

PS Love Molly’s suggestion for a discount, I will stock up on them for my clients next year!

  • Sheila Jones

Very dissapointed! I sent back the planners i had based on the information you said they would be available bef January 2011.

  • Sheila

One more thing… How can you tell someone to get buttoned up and you’re not buttoned up yourself. I am sure it is more than we know and more than you can say! Obvious, a break up in business partners. If that is the case. I understand and life will go on. but if not something of that nature, i have no sympathy! Just tell us there has been a change in management that disrupted everything “if that is the case”. We may come back to you Next year. But in the meantime, you can’t just say, and oh! By the way, the Agenda wont’ be ready until September 2011-2012. Does that mean the Planner will now run from September to August? if so that way you wont have the end of the year Rush. Maybe you should make both. As you guys can see you have disrupted our lives and we are rightfully upset.

  • Lohi

Available in September 2011??? I would have forgotten you by then. Very bad planning on your part guys!

  • Sara

I have been waiting and now I am going to go buy something somewhere else! Very disappointing!! This is a great product. See you next year, maybe.

  • http://www.petconciergepetandhomesitting.com Kristin

Yes I too am extremely upset! Two years ago this planner was July 2009 – July 2010. Then I re-ordered and it only went through December 2010. NOW it is not available until Spetember 2011??? You guys are CLEARLY NOT Buttoned Up!!! Horrible planning, business management and customer service on your part! You had a wonderful product, but have now lost many customers, who simply can not wait that long. People need it now, not 2-9 months from now. Give me a break. I will be going elsewhere as well!

  • marsha

well, I too am HIGHLY disappointed to find out that the new planner has again been delayed. Buttoned up— you were really doing a good thing with your products until now. As many comments and request as you have for this product, you couldnt make it happen? Your orgainization needs a SERIOUS OVERHAUL- out with the old and in with some people that can make things happen!

A Letter Regarding the 2011 Buttoned Up Weekly Agenda from co-founder, Sarah Welch

This is Sarah, one of the co-founders of Buttoned Up, and the one who leads on product development. I wanted to step forward personally regarding the back-and-forth on the Weekly.agenda.

First, I want to apologize for my lack of clear and consistent communication with all of you. I mistakenly thought communicating via comments was getting to everyone – and I now realize that was not the case. For that, and the resulting confusion and disappointment I caused, I apologize from the bottom of my heart.

Before I explain to you our situation vis-à-vis production, I want to thank you all very much for your passion for our Weekly.agenda. We all love the product too and are devastated that FranklinCovey decided not to produce it again this year due to insufficient demand.

As far as production is concerned, believe me, I wish that we could print a few hundred and have them here by January 1st! But, it is not as simple as it might seem.

In late 2008 we made a deal with FranklinCovey that they would become our primary producer of paper products – in effect, that they would license our brand. Because of that agreement, we stopped producing products on our own and handed off our relationships with manufacturing partners to the FranklinCovey team. (Notice, on the back of the planner, it says “Buttoned Up by FranklinCovey”).

The partnership was conceptually great for us as a small business because it took the risk of producing large quantities of items off of us personally (banks today require personal guarantees from small business owners for any purchase order financing they do). Unfortunately for a variety of reasons, the partnership did not work and we unwound it this year.

Re-engaging with suppliers takes time – and there are a few reasons why producing a run of these agendas is not feasible until next year:

    • Because of Chinese New Year, which happens in January/February, all of the major retailers produce a massive volume of items to ship in mid-Jan (they made those orders in July/August). As it is in anything, there is only so much factory capacity, and the big companies get priority slots over the small ones every time. We’re small, so we get pushed to the back of the line. In real terms, that meant we wouldn’t be able to guarantee any shipments until March. We tried to piggyback on a larger production run of something else, which is why we thought we could get some in the US by late December/early January, but that fell through. Rather than try to sell a bunch of planners that would be outdated quickly, we will return with our planners in full force in August/September 2011 (which means we will order them to be produced in March). The planners will run for 18 months – from September 2011 – December 2012.

    • There are minimum quantities required to produce anything – and in this case 5k pieces. That is a significant investment. We know you and the people who have commented on this page are passionate about the item, but that was not enough to justify the investment – including massive rush fees. We know that if we take the time to get the word out about this item, online and to small stationery stores across the US, we will sell through the item. But that will take us a few months to line up those conversations.

Does this make sense? It’s not a capricious decision on our part at all. We truly care about our customers and learned a lot (the hard way) from this ordeal and don’t intend to ever be in the same situation again.

I am well aware that this does not help you with the bulk of this year. That is why we would like to offer you the ability to download PDF forms of the planner, which you can print and use in any 3-ring binder. Hollie, our designer is working on 2 different versions, one for a smaller binder (we are looking into sizes today) and one 8.5 x 11. We will have these done and ready to download by next Friday, December 17th. We will send you an email letting you know when they are up.

Thank you again for being such product champions. If there is anything else I can help you with in the interim, please let me know. My email is: Sarah @ Get Buttoned Up dot com. Feel free to contact me directly to vent, send suggestions, or ask more in-depth questions.

    All the best,
    Sarah

  • monica

    dear Sarah,
I too am disappointed that you will not have the planner until later this year.
Thanks for the explanation I appreciate it. I think you give a good description ( that i didnt know) of how small companies work in this business and what you are up against in competing with large companies.
That said, I think it is EXTREMELY generous of you to offer the PDF’s.
Ill go back to my moleskine, and Ill be back in Sept to buy your planner- and I think making it 18 months is even better!

  • http://www.aleasa.net aleasa

Yes. This is a bummer. :( But, on the bright side, I can buy an August-July planner, hopefully at a slight discount. Thanks anyway!

  • nunuu

Still would like to see an iPhone/iPod touch/Android, etc. version of the planner as an application. It’d probably be easier to create and publish anyway since there’s no need to look and wait for publishers. :D And it’s environmentally friendly to boot!

In the meantime, I’ll just continue using my boring calendar programs on my phone and iPod touch. :(

  • Roxanne

How disappointing to have us all wait for December to get our 2011 planner and start entering those dates (which you really need to start doing in October), only now to find out the 2011 planner will be available in September of 2011. What is the point of that?? Now we all must search for something else and I know that I at least will not be back. Terrible customer service. So long buttoned up.

  • Dianne Lott

Sarah W – I appreciate your candidness. Thank you for clarifying the situation on the planners. Still disappointing but understand how it must be more so for you. Will look forward to the downloadable items. And will be on the lookout for the new planner in September.

Will be praying that this setback will only be short-term and many good things will happen for your company in its wake.

  • Jennifer

Thank you for the pdf’s – they are great! I have not used this planner before, but it was exactly what I have been looking for. The Franklin Covey ones were either overkill or didn’t have a weekly format that was helpful to me. Will definitely buy the new one when it is out in September.

Can you check on the half page planner pdf? I had trouble getting it to open.

    Thanks!!

  • Lisa

The “half-letter size” document properties indicates the page size as 17 x 11. Is this correct? When I print on 8.5 x 11 paper it looks smaller than the pdf image and margins are off. Please advise. Thank you.

  • Christine

Your Weekly.agenda was the planner for which I had been searching for the past twenty years! I have tried many, many versions of paper and electronic planners, spending tons of money on solutions that never quite met my needs.

I walked into a Franklin-Covey store last February, already disorganized for the year 2010. I had searched their site online and decided I needed to see the products in person. Not finding anything quite right, I ended up buying two versions of their brand of weekly planners, along with (yet another) expensive leather portfolio. As an afterthought, I also picked up this little blue book on the sale rack called the “Buttoned-Up Weekly.agenda.”

When I got the planners home, I tried each of them for a couple of days. The others were, as usual, too complicated, distracting, bulky, and just not focused on what I focus on daily, weekly and monthly. I found the Weekly.agenda to be perfectly simple, functional and pleasant to use. It was also just the right size. I was thrilled and have really enjoyed using it.

When I searched for the 2011 version of it last fall, both on the Franklin-Covey site and then on your site, I was puzzled that it was not being offered again. Now that I know the situation, I am annoyed at Franklin-Covey for discontinuing it. They have so many other products, one would think it would not be a big deal to offer this little book for those of us who really like it.

I have found a replacement with a similar format to start using in January (Moleskine). Printing out PDFs kind of defeats the purpose of having everything “buttoned-up.” I don’t know whether or not I will be switching back in September.

  • Jeanette Haris

Any chance the Blue Button-up Weekly Agenda will be back in stock soon? Is there an ETA? I don’t mind the brown, just the blue add a bit of brightness.

    Thanks,
    Jeanette

  • Patricia

Utterly disappointed to learn that the 2011-2012 weekly planner will not be available until September of 2011!?!?!? I already have dates and appointments to log for 2012. Buttoned-up missed the mark on this product and leaves a lot to be desired in the “organized” world, how could Franklin-Covey not know how desirable this planner was? I’m afraid you’ve lost another customer.

  • http://www.fieldstonehilldesign.com Darlene

I am also disappointed. I will be looking for a replacement brand, but maybe I will not have found anything I like as well by September.
Here’s to hoping you can find a way to get it out sooner! If so, let me know. This is a very well designed product.
Printing your color pages for $100 at Staples is not an option for me :( I would rather buy a Hermes planner for that!

  • Jennifer

I am painfully disappointed that this product will not be out until September. I just graduated from college, and I am in need of a new planner. I first discovered this product on Franklin Covey’s website while browsing planners a while back. I thought this planner was perfect in every way, except for -at the time- not enough space for writing down homework and the busy schedule and to-do list of a college student. I knew I wanted this planner when I got out of college. Ready to purchase it, this new information is highly disappointing for me. I don’t want to print out the forms and put them in a 3-ring binder, I want the cute little planner book; it just seems trashy to me. Does anyone who also had to set their sights on a new planner, who was a dedicated Buttoned Up fan, have any suggestions?

  • Melissa Severson

I am really disappointed you no longer carry this planner the Weekly Agenda. It was a great one. :o ( Will have to find something else; am relunctant to use your other products as those may also be discontinued in a couple years.

  • Cecile Melanie

This is incredible!! I just noticed that about a month ago, I ordered the agenda thinking it was the 2011, and it’s 2010. How a professional company, will allow at the end of the year to process an order for that year!!!

  • Hannah Wise

I will be back for the September 2011 Weekly agenda. I ordered it from Franklin Covey last year for my Daughter and she loves it it the first one she stuck with and used all year. I will be back to by at least two, I want to try one myself next time also.

    Looking forward,
    Hannah

  • Renee Menke

Thank you for the explanation on why there is such a snag in getting the 2011 planner to market. I’m disappointed that FC decided not to carry it, and I’ll check back here in September.

BTW, I’m sure the cost wold be much higher, but can’t the printing be done in the US? It seems like everything – and I mean everything – is made in China these days!!

  • Vickey

Has this been discontinued? Your note above states, that “The 2011-2012 version of the Weekly.agenda will be available in September 2011.” That just can’t be correct. Especially for a company all about organization. Please let all of us know once and for all. Thank you.

  • Vickey

It might be helpful to update your note above to summarize the situation with this product. I missed it and was totally confused how it would not be available until 9/30/11 until I read Sarah’s epic explanation below from Sarah December 8, 2010 at 3:16 pm. Maybe just note that it will be a new version and it is DELAYED until 9/30/11.

Thank you for the great products. I can’t wait until this is available again.

  • Vickey

Trouble posting a comment. forgive me if this is duplicated.

It would be clearer if the notes above stated that this product is DELAYED until 9/30/11 and will be a new version.

Thank you for the great products. I can’t wait until this is available again.

  • Relieved

I am so glad that this planner will eventually be available again. I went to Franklin Covey last week to get a new one, and the “replacement” option is TERRIBLE. I have used the Buttoned Up planner for two years, and it is truly the best one out there for my needs. I’ll be in line (because clearly there is one!) when the 2012 planner is available in September.

  • Ruth Welch

So, basically you don’t have a weekly agenda for the 2011 year?
I bought one last year and liked it and wanted one for this year?

  • Valerie

Truly disappointed that the weekly.agenda will not be available until 9.2011! Used it for the first time last year and always buy an organizer for my pastor’s wife. After using a FC product for years, we made the switch and loved it. Now I have to spend time looking for another organizer.

  • Diane Amadio

I absolutely love the weekly agenda. I had a blue planner which I used after searching for years for a planner that would meet all of my needs. I will definitely be looking for the new planner when it is available in September 2011.
Thank you For bringing it back.
