That makes sense to me! You could contain a bottle or two in a little desk organizer like the one pictured above and keep that right by the front or back door (whichever is used most).

I did some internet searching after posting the comment and in several news articles about sunscreen, it was recommended that it not be left in the car for "prolonged" periods (while other articles were more non-committal simply stating that "some" degradation could be expected with higher storage temps). At least one of the articles listed a pharmaceutical/beauty product company spokesperson as recommending it not be stored in a car. I too tend to think that the product might be OK for one summer, but since my car is always parked outside with no shade, I think I'll be cautious and opt for the other suggestion of keeping a handy to go bag of supplies near the door instead.

Sunscreens are generally designed to be stable at their original strength for about 3 years. But that assumes you are storing it in a temperature that's around 75 degrees. Keeping it in a hot car will reduce efficacy - but I would assume keeping a bottle in a hot car would be okay for one summer. I don't know the rate at which bug spray declines, but I am sure it does as well.

So bottom line: be sure to check expiration dates. And if you are in doubt, toss and replace with a new bottle.

:) About two years ago I declared my lack of a sunscreen system insane. We ended the summer season with 12 bottles of sunscreen some full, some slightly used, some pretty near empty. I did the math and figured that we had basically thrown $80 down the drain that we didn't need to. Insanity!

Biggest headache: All the sunscreens and bug sprays...half-used bottles floating about, here and there but never in the place I need when I need it. I'm going to use your tip above. Also, the flip flop bin. Thanks.
