I absolutely need to do that.  My photos are out of control.  I wanted to write an article about it for my blog but I haven’t figured it out yet so I can’t!  But great advice.

As a certified personal photo organizer, I agree that these are PERFECT steps to manage your digital photos before they become an untamed beast! Many folks can start these steps moving forward, but already have years’ worth of photos that aren’t well organized, so I just want to share with your readers that to keep from being overwhelmed on catching up, just carve out a little time once a week, if you can, or at least once a month, where you can spend time focusing on just a little bit at a time. Pick one year, or 6 months’ worth of photos to go through, delete ones you don’t need, batch rename the files with dates/events so that at a glance you know what’s in each set of photos and create a file structure based on categories vs. years if that makes more sense to you. Best of luck with all your photo organizing projects and please contact me if you have any additional questions! http://picturethisps.com
