Neat Money Saving, Yummy Idea: Start a Dinner Co-Op

What’s your weeknight meal situation?

According to a recent study, cooking at home is actually on the way to becoming something we do less often than eating out or semi-prepared meals. Nearly 50% of our food dollars are spent away from home!

The New York Times ran a story today about how busy families are saving time and stress by joining cooking co-ops. The basic idea is that each member of the group cooks a meal for all of the members in the group one night each week.

Do any of you participate in a dinner co-op? If so, do you live in a suburban or more rural area or a big city? What’s your favorite thing about it? How many people are in your co-op?

What a fun idea! I am ashamed to say I don’t really even know my neighbors … this would be a nice way to familiarize myself with them.
