A Stocked Freezer

Having a stocked freezer is one of those things that is really important to me – the line however on stocked and ‘I can’t shut the door – seriously, it won’t shut’ is pretty thin.  The problem that I have is Wholesale Clubs – I’m not sure what it is about the 5lb bags of Spinach that draws me like a moth to a flame but I can’t help myself – and I’m not even that huge a fan of spinach.

Here’s how Evernote has helped me with this problem.  You can see in that screenshot above that is my personal Evernote account.  I have a notebook for Food – in it I have a ton of recipes from across the internet that are on my radar and a note called “In My Freezer”.

The note contains the following list.  A listing of the Prepared Stuff I have ready to just bake (I put the reheat directions on masking tape on my pyrex dishes), A list of fruit that I have in the freezer and a list of the vegetables at the ready.  The Fruit and Veggies are basically the MAX capacity for those shelves in my freezer – when I use something up I put a * next to it.  When I have 7 * I’ll start to think about my next trip to Costco….if there aren’t 7 * though I’m not going because I’ll have a ‘I can’t shut the door’ experience and those are not as fun as you’d imagine.

This list has spared me quite a few take out orders, last minute lunches and has saved me hundreds of dollars in Warehouse Shopping (did you know they also have GIGANTIC boxes of Granola bars and Face Wash?).

Tell me – what’s in your freezer? And please don’t worry the door shelf stores my Meatless Crumbles, Veggie Burgers, York Peppermint Patties and Ice Cream….and there is ALWAYS Ice Cream.

I have a huge freezer plus the one in the side by side. I will talk about the huge Freezer. Top shelf is breads, rolls, french fries, tator tots. Things that are unmeat like. Second shelf has Meat- neatly in a row piled up in order, hamburger, chicken, sausage and last strip steaks (oops, they are all gone after the last party)
Third shelf, is for veggies, again in rows, corn I froze this fall, squash that I froze this fall. Store bought veggies, Bottom shelf is fruit. Blue Berries I picked this summer, Elderberries from my parents house,
the pull out drawer has homemade applesauce, prepared spaghetti sauce, chicken soup base from left over chicken BBQ.

Okay, I think it is said that I didn’t have to even look in the freeze to know all that.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree..

Thanks for sharing.  Again that is a really nice looking form and one that will be very practical in keeping organized, especially for dinner time..  I actually have a menu plan blog hop at my organizing blog every Monday, called http://routinehabit.com , the link is on that page.  Would love you to join one day if you have time.  Love your site, it’s an inspiration thanks again.
